The Falmouth Town Band will be performing at the Falmouth Music & Arts Pavilion on Thursday from 7:30 to 8:45 PM.
The ensemble will perform music from around the world. The program includes a Spanish march, La Bonita, Russian Sailors’ Dance, “The Lion King,” Broadway selections, “Espana Cani,” Victory at Sea (“Song of the High Seas,” “The Guadalcanal March,” “The Hymn of Victory”), “Around the World in 80 Measures,” and “We Are the World.”
Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once wrote, “Music is the universal language of mankind.” In celebrating music from around the world the town band is highlighting one of the special things about music—that musicians from all over the world can perform together even if they can’t communicate in the same language.
The emcee for the evening will be Jim Bowen, Falmouth Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Citizen of the Year. The manager of the Falmouth Town Band is Falmouth High School teacher Darrell Morey. The librarian for the band is Lori LeGacy-Spurling and the stage manager is Paul April.
Spectators are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy this free summer concert at Bigelow Marine Park on Scranton Avenue.
