The Solstice Singers, accompanied by members of Passacaglia, will present “A Book of Hours” on Sunday, June 22 at 4 PM at West Falmouth Library, 575 West Falmouth Highway. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students.
Based on the illuminated manuscripts that comprise the well-known medieval prayer book, “Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry,” the program will follow the seasonal events of life in earlier times as depicted in this particular work of art, with songs and readings for each month of the year. The illustrations accompany the traditional schedule of prayers for each hour of the day.
The Solstice Singers will be joined by members of the local early music group Passacaglia, playing on period instruments.
The Solstice Singers are the only singing group in Falmouth to perform by memory in cohesive programs of music with appropriate segments of drama and dance, which are geared toward entertainment and education.
