Bourne Police Department's Comings And Goings

Six new officers were sworn in as members of the Bourne Police Department on Wednesday morning, September 3, at Bourne Town Hall.

Edward J. Alldredge, Brendan M. Burke, Francis M. Dougherty, Allen J. Florentine, Blake A. Williams and Sarah L. Woods graduated as part of the 58th Recruit Officer Class at Plymouth Police Academy.

“Now the real training begins,” Bourne Police Sergeant Brandon M. Esip said Wednesday.

Sergeant Esip said the new officers will ensure that the department has adequate patrols at all times, and also will make possible appointments of other officers to detective or special assignment.


In other developments at the department, Detective David J. Lonergan has retired after 33 years at the department. Detective Lonergan most recently has been working as the department’s court prosecutor. Wednesday was his last day in uniform.

On Wednesday, the department stated that it announces Detective Lonergan’s retirement with mixed emotions.

“We are happy that David will be able to enjoy his retirement, but his presence will be deeply missed,” the department stated.

Detective David J. Wilson will step in as the department’s new prosecutor.
