Bourne Selectman Mealy Appointed to Joint Base Cape Cod Committee

Bourne Board of Selectmen member Stephen F. Mealy has been appointed the town's representative to the Joint Base Cape Cod Military Civilian Community Council (MC3).

The council is comprised of members of the military serving at JBCC; representatives from Bourne, Sandwich, Falmouth and Mashpee; Paul J. Niedzwiecki, executive director of the Cape Cod Commission; Barnstable County Sheriff James M. Cummings; Barnstable County Commissioner Sheila R. Lyons; and Matthew A. Lee of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

The purpose of the MC3 is to be an advisory board. The council provides an open forum for the military, civilian tenants of the base, and local communities and organizations to discuss proposed military and civilian projects of mutual interest.

Mr. Mealy will be filling the unexpired term of former selectman and board chairman Earl V. Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin did not seek reelection to the board in last month's town election.

Mr. Mealy’s appointment is effective immediately and runs through December of this year.
