Police Tuesday afternoon, April 15, arrested a 25-year-old Buzzards Bay man, Sonny J. Tavares, and charged him with the murder of Antone Gutierrez.
Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael S. O’Keefe and Bourne Police Chief Dennis R. Woodside said, Mr. Tavares allegedly shot Mr. Gutierrez Monday night during a heroin transaction in the vicinity of Trowbridge Road.
Mr. Tavares was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the state police barracks in Bourne following an interview with police.
Police initially responded to a report around 9:40 PM Monday of a pedestrian accident on Trowbridge Road.
The first officer to arrive found Mr. Gutierrez lying bleeding in the middle of the road.
He was taken to Tobey Hospital, then to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:42 AM Tuesday.
In addition to murder, police charged Mr. Tavares with home invasion, aggravated assault and battery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
