Second Man Arrested In Bourne Shooting

District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Bourne Police Chief Dennis R. Woodside announced this morning that Amonty Amado, 20, of West Wareham has been arrested and charged with murder in the April 15 shooting death of Antone Gutierrez, 22, in Bourne. Mr. Amado is scheduled to be arraigned this morning at Falmouth Third District Court.


The arrest took place last night in New Bedford by the Massachusetts State Police.

Sonny Tavares, 25, of Buzzards Bay was previously charged in this matter.

Mr. Tavares was found and arrested at the Traveler’s Choice Inn on Route 28 in Wareham on April 15. Also present were Maia Tavares, the sister of Sonny Tavares, of Bourne, and Dillon Amaral of East Wareham, who were each arrested and charged with possession of heroin and knowingly being present where heroin is kept.

Ms. Tavares and Mr. Amaral were arraigned at Wareham District Court.

The case remains under investigation by Bourne Police Department and the State Police detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.
