Barnstable County Sheriff’s Summer Youth Academy is a collaborative effort between specially trained staff from correctional, educational, police and treatment organizations; the last day to sign up is Friday, June 27.
The academy is for youth between the ages of 12 and 16. The program fosters improved social skills, increased resiliency, and better decision making.
Past instructors have been selected from a mix of local, regional, state and federal law enforcement, public safety, and military postings.
The academy will begin on Tuesday, July 8, and convene Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the following four weeks. Sessions will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 1 PM. All applicants, parents and guardians will be invited to a family orientation meeting on Friday, June 27.
