Barnstable County Sheriff James M. Cummings’s office will host a blood drive Friday, May 16, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
It will be at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility (BCCF) in Bourne.
The facility is just outside the Bourne gate to Joint Base Cape Cod, which used to be Massachusetts Military Reservation, and is also close to the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
Walk-ins are welcome and have contributed to the office’s numerous prior blood drives. They “always make a hugely positive difference in the number of pints collected,” Sheriff Cummings noted. “We’re hoping for another strong turn-out both from walk-ins and from our own employees. Both have been reliable donors in the past.”
The blood drive’s other sponsor is Cape Cod Health Care, which guarantees that all blood collected Friday will stay on Cape Cod.
Donors should park in the lot designated for visitors and enter BCCF’s front lobby.
