The Falmouth Town Band will be performing at the Falmouth Music and Arts Pavilion in Marina Park on Thursday, July 17, with students from the Cape Conservatory’s Summer Sounds program. The 7:30 to 8:45 PM concert is free.
Under the instruction of Steve Gregory, Bart Weisman and Paul Weller, the students will perform a big band medley including “A String of Pearls,” “Satin Doll,” “Sophisticated Lady” and “Opus One.” The students are part of a one-week music camp that focuses on performing in jazz, rock and big band ensembles.
The Falmouth Town Band will also play “His Honor March,” music from Disney movies, “Georgia on My Mind,” theme music from “Hawaii Five O” and music from “Grease,” among others. Falmouth Cape Conservatory campus and community education director, George Scharr, will be guest conductor for the finale, “Stars and Stripes Forever.” The band is under the direction of Lavada A. Studley.
Concert-goers should bring a blanket or beach chair.
