Sandwich residents prize their history. But they also prize fun.

So the organizers of Heritage Day on June 14 are seeking to serve up a heaping mix of both for the day celebrating the town’s 375 years of history.

Following the March of the Descendants and ceremonies at town hall in the morning [changed to the high school], the focus will shift to Sandwich High School from noon to 7 PM.

Planned activities include an all-town photograph, a picnic, a cupcake contest and a Cape Cod Baseball League game.

Highlights of the afternoon include:
*An all-town picnic next to the baseball field from noon to 1:30 PM. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Jeff Lowe Band and Sandwich Soul.

*Wally, the Green Monster, will waddle in from Fenway Park at 12:30 and hang out until 2 PM. The friendly monster likes to pose for pictures and hand out his own baseball trading card.

*An all-town photograph in the shape of “375” will be organized and shot between 1:30 and 2:30 PM.

*A “Happy Birthday” cupcake competition with celebrity judges will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 PM. Cupcakes may be registered for the contest from noon to 12:30 PM.

*The day concludes with a Cape Cod Baseball League game between the Bourne Braves and Falmouth Commodores.
