Congressman William R. Keating has been named the grand marshal for the 14th annual Seaside Le Mans—The Race for the Cape Cod Community, which will take place Saturday, September 6, in Mashpee Commons.
The event will open just before noon with comments by Keating, an honor guard, and live music by the We Are the Men singing group, followed by the four-hour race and awards presentation. Spectators are invited to view the race, which features dozens of local companies in Formula One race karts on a quarter-mile outdoor track, from outside the track or in the center infield. Attendees can also enjoy children’s activities, food and merchandise tents, and live music throughout the day.
Cape Cod Healthcare, the medical provider for the race, will host a medical tent and blood drive to support the Cape Cod Healthcare Blood Center.
This year’s race is expected to raise more than $500,000 for various Cape Cod organizations, including the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, the Cape Cod Baseball League, the Cape Cod Regional Substance Abuse Prevention Initiative, and Cape Cod Healthcare.
