Lisa Perry will be hosting a reception for state Senate candidate Viriato Manuel (Vinny) deMacedo on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 to 7 PM at Tomatoes Italian Grille and Bar, 280 Route 130 in Sandwich.
With the retirement of State Senator Therese Murray, the Plymouth and Barnstable Senate District seat is open and current state Representative deMacedo is the only Republican candidate in this race.
Representative deMacedo was first elected state representative in November 1998 and has served in a leadership position for the past 10 years as the ranking minority member on the House Ways and Means Committee. During his time on Beacon Hill, he has been an advocate for economic development, not only in Plymouth where he has fought for the tourism industry, but for the entire commonwealth as well. He said that if the economy thrives, then society thrives.
Over the past 15 years, many associations have acknowledged Rep. deMacedo for his legislative work. He was most recently honored for the second time, with the Legislator of The Year Award by the Massachusetts Town Clerks Association. He also served as the past president of the Massachusetts Legislator’s Association.
