Come view this extraordinary collection of Thomas Davies. From New Canaan, CT, Davies has been collecting for over 25 years and has focused on collecting major New England artists.
The following talks and activities are in conjunction with the exhibition:
Friday, May 25 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. – Public Opening Reception
Saturday, May 25, 11:00 a.m. – Lecture and book signing by Thomas Davies
Tuesday, June 18, 7:00 p.m. – Wine and Book Discussion of the book, Collecting Stories by Thomas Davies
Thursday, June 20, 2:00 p.m. – Repeat of the book discussion
Another important event of this exhibition is the Cahoon in Bloom in conjunction with the Aptucxet Garden Club, Bourne, from June 13 to 16. Now in its 6th year, this popular event features floral designers who will base their floral designs on works in the exhibition "Collecting Stories: American Paintings from the Collection of Thomas Davies."
What is extraordinary about this collection are the important range of categories represented and the stories told by Mr. Davies about those purchases of so many outstanding works for over 40 years. Several of the categories the exhibition focuses on are: Cityscapes, Expatriates, Hudson River School, Illustration, Impressionism, Independents, Realism, Western and Contemporary.
