University of Maine Steiners @ First Congregational Church

When: Sun May 19th
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Where: First Congregational Church | 68 Main Street | Falmouth

The Maine Steiners, the University of Maine's premier all-male
a Capella ensemble, will perform at the First Congregational Church
on the Village Green in Falmouth on Sunday, May 19, at 3:00 PM as
part of the groups 55th Anniversary Tour. The Steiners recently
appeared in Falmouth while on tour with the University of Maine
Singers though this marks their first mainstage appearance in the
community.
The Maine Steiners is currently comprised of eight male
singers from various musical backgrounds and areas of study. The
primary objective of The Steiners is to entertain their audiences with a
wide range of a cappella arrangements and choreography. However,
they also act as advocates for increased involvement in the arts
among primary and secondary school age children as well as
crusaders for the preservation of music programs that are threatened
by budget cuts. The Steiners bring their message with them to
children and young adults on semi-annual tours that have stretched
across New England, The United States, Canada, and the world. In
2011, the Steiners were invited to perform as part of State of Maine
Governor Paul LePage’s Inaugural Ceremony and in 2012 completed
a six-show, sold-out concert series with the Portland Symphony
Orchestra. This year the group’s Spring tour will include several stops
in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and
Pennsylvania.
Don’t miss the group which Maine Senator Susan Collins calls
“fun for the whole family!” Admission to Sunday’s concert is free but
donations to help defray The Maine Steiners’ tour expenses will be
graciously accepted at the door.
