24th Annual Pops in the Park @ Eldredge Park
When: Sat Aug 24th
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Where: Eldredge Park | Eldredge Parkway & Route 28 | Orleans
The CCSO is hitting the road for a day at the park. Of course, another musical adventure will take place with Maestro Jung-Ho Pak and the orchestra at the 24th Annual Pops in the Park celebration.
This summer concert features nothing but Blue Skies and other popular tunes by local rising star Cerise--plus a rendition of Casey at the Bat with former CNN sportscaster and anchor Van Earl Wright. Then, tunes take a detour to Chicago, cross the "pond" with the Downton Abbey theme and blast off into space with the music behind the Star Trek series and movies.
Superstar cellist Sebastian Baverstam will also perform two unforgettable pieces by Saint-Saens. This twenty-something virtuoso asked his mom for a cello when he was three, performed his first full recital at age six and his first concerto at age seven. He was still in high school when he started playing the concerto circuit with major orchestras here and abroad. CCSO fans may recognize him. In 2007, he filled in for a guest artist at one of our Classics Concert and brought down the house with Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto in A Minor. The next year, he joined Ben Thacher, violin, and Yue Chu, piano, for Beethoven's Triple Concerto under the direction of Roystan Nash, our Music Director Laureate.
This year, Congressman Bill Keating will narrate Roy Harris' "Gettysburg," and the Nauset Regional Honors Choir will join us for the Armed Forces Salute and Stars & Stripes Forever.
