The making of Japanese bamboo fly-fishing rods is an ancient art dating to the late 15th and early 16th century. Bamboo --- originally planted and harvested for constructing bow, arrows and tools --- was determined useful for fishing as well. Make your own bamboo fishing rod and do some fishing off the pier behind the museum. Admission is $12.
