Wine and Music Wednesday with Ron Williams @ Cotuit Center for the Arts
When: Wed Sep 18th
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Where: Cotuit Center for the Arts | 4404 Route 48 | Cotuit
Cotuit Center for the Arts will hold its monthly Wine and Music Wednesday on September 18 from 6 to 7:30 PM in the Gallery. The event is an opportunity for the community to view the art in the galleries, learn about what events, exhibits and classes at the center, and meet old friends and make new ones.
Ron Williams will entertain at the event, singing songs from the 1930s to the present and playing finger-style guitar and keyboard. Williams’ repertoire is wide, ranging from Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Nat King Cole to Billy Joel and Adele, from jazz standards to easy listening favorites. A resident of Brewster, Williams began singing as a child in school and church choirs and has performed throughout the Cape, at local restaurants and events such as the Provincetown Jazz Festival and the VIP reception for the annual Boston Pops performance in Hyannis.
In the galleries through October 6 is “He Saw, She Saw, They Saw, We Saw,” four diverse, but interrelated art exhibits.
“They Saw” is a collaborative exhibit by 96 Cape Cod artists that takes up an entire wall in the gallery. Back in April, each artist received a small non-identifying section of an art masterpiece and were asked to recreate the piece, in any medium, on a two-foot-square white panel board. The artists were sworn to secrecy about the content of their piece of the puzzle. When installed on the wall, the pieces together create a striking and dramatic image. Individual pieces will be raffled off at the close of the exhibit.
“He Saw, She Saw,” is an exhibit of photographs by husband-and-wife artists Mikael Carstanjen and Mary Doering. Both award-winning artists, Carstanjen and Doering photograph at the same locations—a Provincetown playground, local beaches and fish piers, Maine boatyards, an abandoned train station, and their own garden—but their photos are very different.
“We Saw” invites the entire community to participate. Smartphone images taken by visitors to the exhibit and printed on a wireless phone printer are hung on one wall, while videos taken by participants in the center’s movie-making class, and others, are shown on another wall.
Refreshments and a wine tasting are included in the admission fee of $10, $5 for members. Wine and Music Wednesday is held the third Wednesday of every month throughout the year.
The center is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. For more information, visit ArtsOnTheCape.org or call 508-508-428-0669.
