When: Sat Aug 24th
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
A performance that showcases new choreography, structured improvisation, and works-in-progress is coming to the Cape Cod Dance Center in Cataumet on Saturday, August 24. While the public is invited, seating is limited, so people are encourage to arrive early. A pre-show performance and video projections will begin at 7:15. A $5 donation is suggested.
The performance, growing out of the Summer Choreography Project 2013, will include several small dance companies from the Boston area, a duet by Boston Ballet and Festival Ballet Providence dancers, guest artists, members of the TIDES Dance Company in Chatham, and dancers from the Cape Cod Dance Center. It will be presented by D.I.R.T.T. Productions in collaboration with the dance center.
The Summer Choreography Project was created by a group of professional and semi-professional dancers directed by Cape Cod Dance Center owner, Eveline Carle, with the assistance of Antonia Stephens, who helped develop the project in 2007.
This year's project was opened to dancers in the Boston area who wished to come present their work on the Cape. The performance incorporates a variety of dance styles, such as jazz, tap, modern, contemporary and neoclassical.
Audience members will be invited to write critical comments and personal perspectives to share with the dancers and choreographers after the performance. A short question-and-answer session will be held after the presentation.
