"Next to Normal" @ the Cape Cod Repertory Theatre
When: Sun Oct 6th
2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Where: Cape Cod Repertory Theatre | 3299 Main Street | Brewster |
The Cape Cod Repertory Theatre Company will be offering its production of “Next to Normal,” a groundbreaking rock musical when it opened on Broadway in 2009, beginning on Thursday, September 19. The show will run through October 13.
“Next-to-Normal” was a Tony Award-winning show and one of the few musicals that has won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It looks behind what appears to be a “normal” American family, the Goodmans, touching on issues from suicide to drug abuse to mental illness.
Cape Rep’s production of the musical, with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, will be directed by Kristin McLaughlin. Scott Storr will provide musical direction. Cape Rep company members Chelsey Ristaino (”The Mystery of Edwin Drood” and “Spamalot!”) and Marty Brent (”The Bottom of the Sky” and “Spamalot!”) will be part of a cast that includes Nikki Van Cassele, Matt Ferrell, Matthew Corr and Christopher Sheehan, all newcomers to the Cape Rep stage.
Performances are set for Wednesdays at 7 PM, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM. There will be no performance on September 25. Tickets are $30 to $35. Pay-what-you-can-night is September 20, the first Friday of the production. The box office can be reached at 508-896-1888; tickets may also be purchased at www.caperep.org.
