Cape Verdean Festival

The First Annual Falmouth Cape Verdean Festival is being hosted by the Cape Verdean Club of Falmouth on Saturday, September 28, from 11AM to 6 PM. It will be held at the club at 126 Sandwich Road, Teaticket site. Arts, crafts, jewelry, books, clothing, and more will be for sale. Food purveyors will be on hand selling some Cape Verdean favorites such as jag, cachupa, canja, goofong, along with linguica, burgers, and hot dogs.
Historians will be available to discuss the history of the Cape Verde Islands. This will include showing passenger lists dating back to the early 1900s of many Cape Verdean immigrants that arrived in New Bedford, MA, or Providence , R.I.- some on the Schooner Ernestina-but most on other ships. Passenger lists going back to the1800s will also be discussed.
There will be face painting for children. Music will be played indoors throughout the Festival. The event is open to all and there is no admission fee. Off-site parking will be available, in addition to the parking areas at the facility.
Rain date will be Sunday, September 29, 2013, with the same hours noted above.
