When: Sat Nov 2nd
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Where: Church of the Good Shepherd, Wareham

The Mastersingers by the Sea, in conjunction with members of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, will begin its 2013-2014 season with a concert called "Oceanic Eyes," set for Saturday, November 2 at 7:30PM at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham and on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 3 PM in Falmouth at the First Congregational Church.

The concert title, “Oceanic Eyes”, refers to the hauntingly beautiful music by Matthew Harris that is based on the love poetry of Pablo Neruda. The chorus will also perform Giovanni Gabrieli’s Cantate Domino and Jauchzet dem Herrn by Heinrich Schűtz. A highlight of the concert will be performances by guest instrumentalist Leo Eguchi, principal cellist of NBSO, in works by Antonio Vivaldi and Gaspar Cassadó. Members of NBSO will accompany the singers and Mr. Eguchi.

Advance tickets are $20 and may be purchased at Eight Cousins Bookstore in Falmouth and Market Street Bookshop in Mashpee Commons, on line at www.mastersingersbythesea.org or by calling 508-540-4732. Tickets at the door are $25.  Season tickets are also available on the website.

The Mastersingers by the Sea season, itself, is  titled “Delightfully Different”, and features the most diverse music in the 7-year history of the chorus. The chorus is directed by Dr. David MacKenzie, who also conducts the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra.
