Gardens Aglow@Heritage Museums & Gardens
When: Fri Nov 29th
5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich transforms into a winter wonderland between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Heritage will open its doors for Gardens Aglow on Friday, November 29, presenting a festival of lights that includes live performances, decorating demonstrations, carousel rides, and more. Santa comes for visits, sitting in his special place of honor—a Model A Ford. This year, more than 69,800 lights will be shining across the museum’s lawns and buildings, and more than 60 pounds of marshmallows will be roasted and hundreds cups of hot chocolate served to visitors strolling paths.
Displays, holiday decorating hints and suggestions from the experts, an exhibit of intricately designed gingerbread houses will be accompanied by a European-style outdoor marketplace—the Kriskindlemart. That mart, with its Dickensian-style holiday flair, will offer crafts and gifts for sale by juried local artists. Heritage’s 2014 ornament, the Rhody Scintillation, is inspired by Heritage’s famous rhododendron collection. For reservations, call 508-888-3300. For members, tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children. Nonmember tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children. Tickets are available for purchase at the gate the day of the event.
