National health care reform and the Affordable Care Act have changed the health insurance landscape for many Massachusetts residents beginning in 2014. Navigating the various options and qualification guidelines can be complicated. The Falmouth Human Services Committee is hosting a community forum to educate residents, providers and business owners regarding the general guidelines that make up this new law. Topics will include the key features of the Affordable Care Act; the types of plans available in Massachusetts; the income guidelines and qualifications for financial assistance; federal and state tax credits; help paying for monthly insurance premiums or deductibles and co-pays; small business assistance program; and where to get personal one-on-one help with the application process.
Open enrollment ends on March 31. Get answers to some of your questions before the deadline. The community forum, hosted by the Falmouth Human Services Committee, is free and all are welcome. Partnering sponsors are Falmouth Human Services, Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands, Massachusetts Health Connector and Atria Woodbriar Place. Questions about the event can be directed to Falmouth Human Services at 508-548-0533.
