Historical Trolley Excursion @ Briggs-McDermott House

On Tuesday, July 10th the Bourne Society for Historic Preservation will conduct an all-day trolley excursion through Bourne villages north of the Cape Cod Canal which will include Sagamore Beach, Bournedale, and Buzzards Bay, as well as Sagamore Village on the south side. Tour-goers will meet at 9:00 AM at the Briggs-McDermott House, 22 Sandwich Road in Bourne Village. The trolley will leave at 9:30 AM and return at approximately 3:30 PM.
Experienced guides will share historical facts and legends along the tour route, and at some sites the tour-goers will debark for a closer look.They may even meet a costumed character from the past eager to tell their personal story. The tour route will take the trolley along some little-traveled back roads affording passengers some lovely vistas and interesting sights.
The journey will include North and South Sagamore, Bournedale, Grazing Fields Farm, Buzzards Bay, a church with a story, an historic building with a fine art gallery,Three-Mile Look, and a visit to a cemetery or two with stories to tell.
Tour-goers will lunch as guests of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and have a personal tour of the facility which will include the fascinating new library and an opportunity to experience the MMA's recently acquired "bridge simulator" (one of only a few in the world!).
The all-day tour including lunch is $45 per person; $40 for BSHP members.
