A Nature Journal Walk in Centerville
Discover a little paradise hidden away in Centerville. Explore Coombs' Bogs with Barnstable Land Trust and Mary Richmond of Cape Cod Art and Nature. We will search for tree swallows, kingfishers and red-winged blackbirds cavorting with damselflies and dragonflies, painted turtles sunning themselves on warm rocks and bullfrogs nestling in the soft mud. Identify birds by sight and sound. Capture the beauty of the flora and fauna with your pencil and/or camera. This diverse habitat encompasses three bogs, each in a different state of succession and two shallow ponds fringed by tall trees.
Armed with your sketchbook or camera, create the time honored tradition of a nature journal. Drawing materials are provided for those who don't have them. Slow paced, the goal is to share observations, not create great art. Bug spray, sunscreen, hat, water and long sleeves and long pants are necessary, due to the poison ivy.
All ages are welcome; singles, families, friends and relatives!
