"Hats Off to Historic Preservation!" is a fashion gala to be held at the Briggs-McDermott House in Bourne on Saturday, September 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Eighteen models mingling with guests will be wearing vintage hats from the collection of the late Letitia Coppi of Sagamore.
Ms. Coppi was an accomplished seamstress who created one-of-a-kind dresses for customers of an exclusive boutique in Boston where she was employed. She never lost her flare for fashion and acquired a personal hat collection that spanned the thirties through the sixties. In the village of Sagamore where she resided most of her life, she was legendary for her wardrobe and her lifelong involvement with music and the arts. Her hats are being loaned for this event by her daughter, Cynthia Coppi, of San Francisco and Sagamore.
Musicians from the Cape Cod Conservatoryy will perform in the music room. Violinist Dan Flonta, a native of Romania currently living in Sagamore Beach, will be accompanied by a cellist. Mr. Flonta has performed extensively throughout Europe and North America.
CISCO Brewers of Nantucket will provide samples of their fine wines and craft beers. Other sponsors are Portside Liquors (Pocasset) and Cape Cod Five Bank Charitable Foundation Trust.
Donations of wine to be raffled are sought and may be dropped off at Valley Farm Thrift Shop, 892 County Road, Cataumet during open hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM.
Tickets, $25 each, are limited and must be reserved in advance. Early reservations are recommended: 508-563-6245 or 508-274-3440.
