“Final Thoughts: Eternal Beauty in Stone”

Gallery hours are 10 AM to 4 PM, Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 PM on Sundays. Admission is $8 or $7 for seniors (60 and over), $6 for students, and free for children under 12.

The mesmerizing photographs by Rockport photographer John Thomas Grant will be on display at the Cahoon Museum of American Art’s Little Gallery from September 11 to October 28.

An opening reception for the exhibition will feature the artist and  “The Victoriana Lady Lisa” wearing her authentic, antique widow weeds.

The photographs in this exhibition are from Mr. Grant’s book, “Final Thoughts: Eternal Beauty in Stone,” based on a personal exploration of his family roots and a chance meeting with a young man in a small New England town.
“John Grant’s photographs show us that cemeteries may be the realm of the dead, but they are for the living. Get thee to a cemetery. And see it through John Grant’s eyes and heart,” said Douglas Keister, author of “Stories in Stone.”
“View the photographs in ‘Final Thoughts ‘with your heart. They do not speak of death. They most assuredly speak of life.”
In conjunction with the exhibit, Mr. Grant will offer a gallery talk and sign copies of his book on Tuesday, September 18, at 11 AM.
