The Town of Barnstable in partnership with the Cape Cod Art Association is offering a daytime and overnight excursion to the Halfway House out at Sandy Neck Beach. In the quiet of Sandy Neck Beach a Halfway House cottage stands in the middle of the dunes, marsh and water which provides solitude, beautiful scenic landscapes and a chance to escape everyday life as you know it. This experience is for the plein air painter, the photographer, the musician, the writer or for any creative process, indoors or out, who craves time to create without the everyday interruptions of life. You will be transported by the Ranger for the 3.5mile drive through the dunes to the Halfway House. Arist, writer, educator and naturalist Mary Richmond will be on hand to share her knowledge and expertise. A trip is planned for Friday September 21st (departing between 8:30AM-9AM returning after sunset. If enough register for an overnight trip, overnight participants would stay at the Half Way House through Saturday at noon. As one participant said of an earlier trip this year: “A unique opportunity to see a beautiful and remote part of the cape. The view from high on the dunes had another worldly and primitive quality that is difficult to encounter these days. We were on the dunes, with hundreds of swallows swarming right above us”.
