Our first-ever solo exhibit features new work by James Wolf: artist, musician, curator, gallery owner/director, and founder of Cotuit Center for the Arts. This new body of purely abstract work consists of watercolor paintings on paper and acrylic paintings on canvas, all influenced by Willem de Kooning, Gerhard Richter, and Hokusai. Of his own work, Wolf says, "Nature is the starting point...the heart of all my work. The colors I mix and the brush strokes I use are evolved through ceaseless observation and extraction. My wish is that audiences of my work will sense a kinship, like the memory of something they thought they saw out of the corner of their eye, or a memory of a tune they might have heard."
