Each year, ReMade recognizes selected artists of Cape Cod and beyond who creatively incorporate recycled materials in their collages, sculptures, paintings and constructions.
The annual exhibit to display these works will open on Friday, October 12 with a reception beginning at 5:30 PM at the Green Design Center in Mashpee Commons. The reception will also celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the Center.
This year, the exhibit includes sculpture, collage and constructions using materials as varied as candy wrappers to antique candle molds.
Selected local artists include: Martha Brill of Waquoit; Wayne Kartzinel of East Falmouth; June Monteiro of East Falmouth; Odell Ferguson of Marstons Mills; Alfred Glover of Cataumet, and Max Redfire Wheeler of Woods Hole.
In year's past, the exhibit has seen works as far out as reclaimed oil from an artist's truck which was used as paint on a canvas. "We selected things that were really re-claimed, re-cycled and re-used and not just old," says gallery owner Nicole Goldman.
Besides locals, regional artists will have their work in the show, including artists from New Hampshire and Georgia.
The jury selecting the works include: Amy Rice of Woodruff's Art Center in Mashpee; Jen Vila of the Little Beach Gallery in Hyannis; Molly McGinness of Molly McGinness Interior Design in Falmouth; Jim Hoeck of Cotuit Center for the Arts in Cotuit; and Joy Cuming of Aline Architecture in Orleans.
The opening reception will be held at the 'g' Mashpee showroom. The exhibit runs through Saturday, November 24th and is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.
