The Falmouth Theatre Guild in cooperation with Falmouth Public Library will screen the classic 1950 Billy Wilder movie, “Sunset Boulevard,” in advance of its fall production, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical based on the movie.
The guild is screening the movie at two free showings at the library. The first screening is Saturday, October 13, at 2 PM. The second is Wednesday, October 17, at 7 PM. The movie is 110 minutes long.
Tim Miller, a film critic and college professor of cinema, will introduce the film at the Saturday screening.
The movie contains some of the most famous lines in movies: “I am big. It’s the pictures that got small.” “We didn’t need dialogue. We had faces.” “Just us and the cameras and those wonderful people out there in the dark.” and ending with “All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.” It stars Gloria Swanson, William Holden and Erich von Stroheim.
The screenings will take place in the Hermann Foundation Meeting Room at Falmouth Public Library, 300 Main Street.
