Wine & Music Wednesday @ Cotuit Center for the Arts
When: Wed Nov 21st
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Where: Cotuit Center for the Arts | 4404 Falmouth Road | Cotuit
Cotuit Center for the Arts will hold its monthly Wine and Music Wednesday on November 21 from 6 to 7:30 PM in the gallery. Musician Scotty West is the featured entertainer. Tickets are $5 and available only at the door.
The event is an open invitation to the community to come and view the art in the galleries, and to catch up on what is going on and coming up at the center. It is a great way to end your day or start your evening.
Two new exhibits open in the galleries on November 21: the Annual Members, Student, and Faculty exhibit and the Inspired by Wonka exhibit.
The Annual Members, Student and Faculty exhibit is the center's way of saying thank you to all the visual artists who support the center through their memberships and participation in classes, and celebrates the many talented visual artists in the CCftA community. This show runs through December 30; the opening reception is Saturday, December 1, from 5 to 7 PM.
The Inspired by Wonka exhibit runs through December 22, in tandem with the center's holiday family production of "Willy Wonka." Art inspired by food and chocolate will be featured. This is the final open juried show of the year. Drop off is Monday, November 19, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Guitarist and keyboard player Scotty West will provide musical entertainment at Wine and Music Wednesday. Mr. West also heads up the seven-piece jazz fusion band, XEnsemble. He will play original jazz compositions to recorded back-up tracks provided by his band.
The band, which was formed about 25 years ago, performs an all-original blend of jazz, rock, blues, and fusion, with new age, classical, and world influences.
Mr. West started piano lessons when he was 6. His mother was a classical violinist who also loved Broadway music, as did Mr. West. When he was 10, he discovered the Beatles, who inspired him to play guitar. In school, he learned clarinet and saxophone, and he continued to broaden his musical horizons by listening to all types of jazz, contemporary and world music, and composing and performing his own music.
Wine will be served by representatives from the Grain & Vine Spirit Shoppe of Hyannis, which provides a different selection of wines each month.
Wine and Music Wednesday is held the third Wednesday of every month throughout the year. The arts center is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit.
