Eleemosynary @ Sandwich Town Hall

When: Sun Nov 25th
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Where: Sandwich Town Hall | 145 Main Street | Sandwich

The Glass Town Cultural District in Sandwich, newly designated through the State’s Cultural Council will launch its programing side on Sunday, November 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Sandwich’s historic Town Hall by presenting Ellemosynary, a wonderful play by Lee Blessing.  The Cotuit Center for the Arts has produced the play and it has already enjoyed a successful run there.  The center is a partner with The Glass Town Cultural District, bringing Sandwich audiences this play after bringing the play 12 Angry Men to Town Hall in September.  Ellemosynary is directed by Sandwich’s own Carol McManus with Sandwich resident Patty Anderson in the cast.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Sandwich Library or through Cotuit Center for the Arts at or by calling 508-428-0669.
Ellemosynary means charitable and it is the word that wins the National Spelling Bee for Echo, the teen-aged girl who begins this story of her mother, her grandmother and herself.  This beautifully written piece weaves their story simply.  Enjoy each characters journey as we are swept into their world at different points in their lives.
While we are talking culture, get involved in the Glass Town Cultural District by becoming a partner.  You don’t have to live in the district to be a partner.  The first meeting for the Glass Town Cultural District will be Monday, December 5, 7 p.m. at the Sandwich Town Hall.  Membership is free but it will require a commitment to volunteer for working groups, specific tasks or as a volunteer for events and programs.  The membership will be asked to vote on a slate for the Glass Town Cultural District Steering Committee at the meeting.   For information about the meeting or the Cultural District call 508-888-2601.  And don’t forget to friend Glass Town Cultural District on Facebook.
