Center for the Arts, in partnership with the Woods Hole Film Festival, will present the documentary feature film, "Becoming Santa," by Jeff Myers and Jack Sanderson, on Tuesday, December 18, at 7 PM.
"Becoming Santa" (2010, 82 minutes) explores the secret world of Santa Claus and the men who choose to become Santa. Director Jeff Myers follows his friend Jack Sanderson as he learns what it takes to become Santa and to do what a Santa needs do.
Jack buys a custom Santa suit from Adele Saidy of Adele's of Hollywood, attends the American Events Santa School taught by Susen Mesco in Denver, and then takes on the job of being Santa. Along the way, Santa Jack rides in the 57th Annual Quincy Christmas Parade, rings a bell on a street corner in New York City for Volunteers of America, and appears on the Susquehanna Railroad's Polar Express in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
At Santa School, Mesco teaches how to answer really tough questions from children like "Can you get my parents back together?", the right way to pose for pictures, how to handle screaming babies and petulant parents, and proper make-up techniques.
Tickets are $12, $10 for members. To purchase tickets, call the box office at 508-428-0669, or visit artsonthecape.org.
