Renaissance music recording artists, Jay and Abby Michaels, known as The Harper and The Minstrel, will present an Early Music Holiday Concert at Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich on Saturday, December 22 at 6:30 PM.
The one hour concert will feature Christmas Music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods and will include some Celtic tunes as well.
The music will be performed on a variety of instruments including both the traditional Gaelic, wire-strung harp, known as a Cláirseach, and the nylon-strung Celtic folk harp, classical guitar, recorders, penny whistles, bowed psaltery, silver flute, Irish wooden flute, bowed dulcimer and the vocals of Jay and Abby Michaels.
The duo will perform in Medieval Costumes.
Jay and Abby Michaels have been performing together since 2002 and have appeared at many venues throughout the country. They have recorded several albums together including a Holiday album. This month they released an album of all original material called "Chasing My Muse." Recordings of their music will be available after the Concert.
This Concert is presented as part of the Museum's annual celebration of lights called "Gardens Aglow" and will take place in the Automobile Gallery. The Museum will be open from 5 to 10 PM. Admission is $10 for non-member adults and $5 for their children, $7 for members and $4 member children, and free for children 2 and under.
The Heritage Museum and Gardens are located at 67 Grove Street in Sandwich.
