Buzzards Play Productions opens its Spring Season with the Tennessee Williams’ classic "The Glass Menagerie," with direction done by Santiago Gonzalez. It will open Thursday, March 28th and will run through April 14 with showings on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and two Sunday Matinees, April 7 and 14 at 2 PM. Michael E. Dexter, Sr., 45 of Bourne will play Tom Wingfield; Susan Shaw, 64, of Mattapoisett will play Amanda Wingfield; Paulie Devlin, 18, of Plymouth will play Laura Wingfield, and Jesse Romano, 22, of Brewster will play The Gentleman Caller.
"The Glass Menagerie," an American classic, is a memory piece, concerning the Wingfield family: Amanda and her adult children Tom and Laura. During hard financial times, Tom who is anxious to make a life of his own but feels obliged to remain at home to care for his over-bearing mother and shy sister. Hope enters the picture with the appearance of a suitor for Laura, "the gentleman caller."
"Menagerie" was last performed on Broadway in 2005 with Jessica Lange, Christian Slater, Sara Paulson and Josh Lucas.
Performances will be held at Buzzards Play Productions 3065 Cranberry Highway, East Wareham, with doors opening a half-hour before production.
