I do not ordinarily come out and publicly support candidates for public office unless I honestly feel that there is something exceptional about them. At this time, I feel that there is one shining star here among us who should be so noted: Precinct 6 Barnstable Town Councilor Janet Swain Joakim.

She is a pragmatically insightful and pleasant local business woman who cares deeply about her neighborhood and the Town of Barnstable. She is a proven leader, politically experienced and battle-tested representative of the constituents and voters within her Precinct. Over the years, she has tirelessly and successfully lobbied for our town on the federal, state and regional levels. She has dedicated much time and effort into improving Barnstable and has positively touched the lives of all who reside here. It is without hesitation that I strongly urge the voters in Centerville-Precinct 6 to come out in force on Tuesday, November 3rd and re-elect Barnstable Town Councilor Janet Swain Joakim!

As a property owner and activist in the village of Centerville for over 30 years, I would like to heartily endorse the reelection of Tom Rugo (Pct. 2), Fred Chirigotis (Pct. 4), and Janet Joakim (Pct. 6) for the Barnstable town council. They have demonstrated, time and again, their dedication to our village and town by doing their homework, building coalitions on tough issues facing us, and taking stands on issues not always popular. They have spent countless hours in meeting with those of us concerned about particular issues and, most importantly, are accessible. My experience with these three councilors has been that they return phone calls, e-mails, and make every attempt to meet with citizens when asked.

With so many dire circumstances facing our town, we need to return these important members to the Council. They understand the process and are up to speed on the many complex issues. Councilors Rugo, Chirigotis, and Joakim have been excellent public servants for our town and deserve reelection.
