High School Senior Charged in Uncle’s Murder

Barnstable police yesterday charged Christopher Manoloules, 17, of Southborough with killing his uncle, Aris Manoloules, at the uncle’s summer home at 25 Ripple Cove Road in Hyannis.

Mr. Manoloules, a senior at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough, was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on charges of first-degree murder and attempting to commit armed robbery.

He is being held without bail at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility in Bourne until a pre-trial conference on November 5.

Local police are investigating a possible murder after finding a Framingham man dead in his summer home on Ripple Cove Road in Hyannis.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Barnstable Police Chief Paul MacDonald announced yesterday morning that at approximately 5:30 PM Wednesday night, the police were asked to make a “well being check” at 25 Ripple Cove Road, which is located off Ocean Street not far from the JFK Memorial and close to Hyannis Inner Harbor. They did not clarify who made the request.

Upon arrival, they found Aris E. Manoloules, 48, of 1500 Worcester Road, Apartment 311, Framingham dead in his summer home at 25 Ripple Cove Road.

According to a prepared statement from police, “The circumstances surrounding the death were suspicious and a criminal investigation has begun.” That investigation involves Barnstable police detectives, state police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, and crime scene services of the Massachusetts State Police, who all responded to the scene Wednesday night. The investigation is ongoing.

Mr. Manoloules’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in the early morning hours yesterday and an autopsy was to be performed yesterday.

Mr. O’Keefe was not reachable by press time yesterday to provide additional information on the case.

A Barnstable Police Department van and officers were at the home yesterday afternoon and crime scene tape blocked the driveway. There was a dark green Honda station wagon in the driveway with a small Greek flag hanging on the rear view mirror. Light poles in the driveway were lit in the middle of the day, as was a light over the front porch.

Town records state that the four-bedroom raised ranch home on a quarter acre lot is assessed at $612,000.

The records state that Mr. Manoloules purchased the home for $1 in May 2001 from Fevronia Manoloules, who, along with Emmanuel Manoloules, was the previous owner. The house has a large second-story deck with a view of Hyannis Harbor. On Thursday the front lawn was decorated with plastic swans and plastic flowers. A sign on the lawn states that the home contains an ADT alarm system.

A construction crew of masons worked on the stone driveway next door.
