Fire Destroys Cottage In Bourne

A fire, fanned by storm winds, destroyed a cottage in the Hideaway Village neighborhood of Buzzards Bay Thursday morning. No one was home when the fire broke out. A neighbor reported it to fire officials at 10:45 AM.

Firefighters from Bourne, Wareham and Plymouth were able to put the fire out, but not before it completely destroyed the two-bedroom, 500-square-foot cottage.

The blaze left a young mother and her two children homeless.

Officials believe an electrical problem started the fire in the 1930’s-era cottage.
