Regional Shelters Opened On Cape

The Barnstable County Emergency Planning Committee has announced that it will open three regional emergency shelters in response to Hurricane Sandy. The shelters are scheduled to open as of 8 AM today.
The nearest of the three regional emergency shelters to those in Falmouth, Mashpee, Bourne and Sandwich is at the Sandwich High School at 365 Quaker Meetinghouse Road. The shelter will accept those with pets.
Two additional regional shelters have been set up at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in Yarmouth, as well as Nauset Regional High School.
Falmouth has notified the public that it may open up its own local emergency shelter at Falmouth High School should conditions warrant it.
Those who experience power outages are asked to report them to NStar at 800-592-2000.
Any local emergencies should reported to your local police (911) while non-emergency inquirie regarding hurricane preparations or related matters can be answered at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency website.
