Lauren Fulone, 19, of Mashpee, died at Cape Cod Hospital this morning following a head-on collision on Great Neck Road North.
Ms. Fulone was a 2010 graduate of Mashpee High School, and was an incoming sophomore at Tulane University in New Orleans.
Ms. Fulone's vehicle crossed into a lane of oncoming traffic, striking an SUV driven by Edward Feren, also of Mashpee, according to information from the Mashpee police and fire departments. Mr. Feren was seriously injured in the accident and transported to Cape Cod Hospital. His condition is not available at this time.
Great Neck Road North was closed for several hours as emergency crews removed the wreckage.
The accident is under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department.
