Falmouth Museums Honors Falmouth Chamber
By: ENTERPRISE STAFF, July 22, 2014
Museums on the Green will honor 100 years of the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce at the Summer Wind Centennial on Friday, August 8. The event will have an exhibit highlighting earlier chamber business members. The museums will also be open for tours that evening.
The party will have many unusual features, committee member Carolyn Tarr said, with five local chefs sponsoring “bite” stations, with one or two treats per station for each guest. The bite station sponsors are Atria Woodbriar, Chef Roland’s Catering, Jacqueline’s Catering, La Cucina Sul Mare and Eat Your Heart Out Catering. Solon Z and the Sapphires of Boston will perform the music of Frank Sinatra and friends in a 17-piece orchestra.
A raffle will include an oil painting by William Adelman, donated to Falmouth Historical Society in his memory by Jean M. Adelman. Another raffle item is a catered dinner party for 10 people in the Dr. Francis Wicks House formal dining room. The dinner will be prepared by chefs Corey Phillips and David Haddad of The Gathered Table, and comes with a case of wine. Tickets for the raffle will be on sale at the event for $10 per ticket.
There will be a table for businesses and individuals to sign up for membership to the museums. The museums have added many new programs for all ages including children’s events, lectures, and new exhibits, and these additions have attracted new members and participants, according to the Falmouth Historical Society executive director Mark Schmidt.
The cocktail party on August 8 will run from 5:30 to 8 PM in the museum’s gardens across from the Village Green in Falmouth. Reservations are required and the cost is $50 per person and includes cocktails. To make a reservation, go to museumsonthegreen.org or call 508-548-4857.
The committee members are Kelly Benway, Cynthia Furtado, Michael Kasparian, Rick Kelleher, Prue Reynolds, and Carolyn Tarr. The event sponsors are Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank on the platinum level and Caroline and Jim Lloyd, Mashpee Orthodontics and Salt Pond Realty LLP on the copper level. Photographs will be taken by Christy Lynch Designs.
