Falmouth Police Logs July 15 - 17, 2014

1:12 PM: Police received a report that several hundred feet of wire were stolen from an apartment building under construction on West Falmouth Highway.

3:02 PM: Someone walked into the police station to report that cash had been stolen from them.

6:17 PM: An employee of a gas station on East Falmouth Highway reported that a customer left without paying for $40 in gas.

6:31 PM: Detective Michael J. Simoneau was on patrol on Davisville Road with a probation officer when he spotted Barry D. Tipton, 54, of Mello Street, East Falmouth, whom he knew to have a warrant out for his arrest and who appeared intoxicated. Mr. Tipton blew a .226 on a Breathalizer and was arrested.

7:16 PM: An East Falmouth woman reported that their elderly mother had been a near victim of a scam. An alleged scammer had called her mother and told her that she had won $5 million  from a lottery but that she needed to have a $5,000 check upfront. After she said she could not get to a bank, the person on the other line offered to pay for a taxi. The mother then hung up the phone. Police attempted to connect with the alleged scammer but could not coordinate a meeting.

8:54 PM: Police responded to a residence near Sandwich Road and Carriage Shop Road, East Falmouth, for the report of a verbal argument between two people.

10:36 PM: Someone reported that their bicycle was stolen while parked at the Falmouth Mall.


Wednesday, July 16, 2014

2:26 AM: Police responded to the Town and Beach Motel on Main Street for the report of a domestic disturbance. Police arrested Tyler J. Clarke, 28, and Elizabeth M. Stenstrom, 37, both on vacation from Boulder, Colorado, for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and malicious destruction of property under $250. Charges were dismissed after they paid for damages.

2:46 AM: Michael S. McClane, 24, of Assonet turned himself in to police for a warrant out of Fall River for larceny over $250 and larceny under $250, unarmed robbery, shoplifting, and littering. Police reported that they had looked for him earlier in the day.

5:03 AM: An employee of a coffee shop on North Falmouth Highway reported that upon arrival in the morning, it appeared that the shop had been broken into. The restaurant doors had been broken but it appeared that nothing was missing.

10:04 AM: A resident of Highview Drive, East Falmouth, reported that an iPhone had been stolen.

11:30 AM: Police reported that a car fender in the middle of Jones Road, Falmouth, was removed.

12:21 PM: A resident of Main Street reported that someone unknown to him stole his gray 2002 Buick LeSabre. At approximately 2 PM, police received multiple reports of the driver of a gray Buick driving erratically in the East Falmouth and Maravista areas. Patrolman Kent C. Clarkson dispatched to Menauhant Road after the most recent report of the driver speeding and passing other cars on the coastal, two-lane, residential road.
Ptl. Clarkson spotted the vehicle and continued to pursue it on Menauhant Road. He witnessed the driver pass multiple vehicles at excessive speeds. Patrolman Clifford T. Harris waited for the vehicle to the east.

Eventually, the driver pulled over near Waquoit Highway and Parsons Lane, where he admitted to his wrongdoing.

The driver was identified as Devin J. Cunningham, 18, listed as homeless and from Falmouth. He was charged with failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, person under 21 in possession of liquor and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. A passenger, Marquis Jones, 23, of Alderberry Lane, Falmouth, was arrested for a warrant out of the Barnstable District Court for an abuse prevention order violation. 

1:14 PM: A resident of Wheelhouse Circle, East Falmouth, reported a domestic disturbance.

2:41 PM: A Walmart employee reported that someone who had allegedly stolen $1,200 in merchandise from the store had returned and was parked outside. Police have not yet reported if there were any arrests, but an investigation remains open.

4:39 PM: Police received the report of an intoxicated man lying on a paved pathway in-between Ocean State Job Lot and nearby apartments. Patrolman Todd M. Brand located the man, identified as Brian A. Ferreira, 46, listed as homeless, and brought him into protective custody.

5:36 PM: Police received a report from a man who had been threatened during a dispute about cut fishing lines. The man said another fisherman told him he would cut his head off. He held a machete while he made the threat, the report said. The reporting party said that he was on the Falmouth Harbor boat ramp at the time and did not wish to pursue charges but wanted the incident documented.

8:17 PM: A resident of Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, reported a domestic disturbance.

9:57 PM: An employee of CVS/pharmacy on Davis Straits reported that a man entered the store and tried to cover his face with his hand. He then attempted to purchase candy from the clerk before he reached over the counter for handful of a cash. He next ran out of  the store while continuing to cover his face with his hand, nearly knocking down someone in the store, and fled south on Davis Straits, police said. Police have applied for an arrest warrant for a 30-year-old man from East Falmouth. No arrest has been made at the time of the report.

11:55 PM: Police documented a noise complaint for a restaurant and bar on Scranton Avenue. They have yet to report if the complaint was founded or not.

8:30 AM: Someone reported that a man in pickup truck stole chopped logs left on Brick Kiln Road.
