Two people were taken into custody yesterday following a multi-jurisdictional drug investigation in East Falmouth.
According to Captain Douglas M. Decosta of the Falmouth Police Department, police executed a search warrant at 343 Club Valley Drive yesterday at 1:42 PM. The homeowner, 27-year-old Lamelle U. Wright, and 49-year-old Camille M. Cohan of Metacom Road, Mashpee, were arrested after police allegedly seized 235 Percocet pills, nine grams of marijuana, and $10,000 in cash.
Capt. Decosta said the 200 pills allegedly found at the home had an estimated street value of $8,000. He added that Mr. Wright allegedly had $4,000 of the cash on his person, and the rest was hidden in a sneaker in his bedroom.
Ms. Cohan was arrested in a traffic stop on Route 151 near Doran Drive, and she allegedly had on her person 35 pills, worth an estimated $1,500.
The suspects were will be charged with trafficking in heroin/morphine/opium and conspiracy to violate drug laws, and were expected to appear this morning for arraignment in Falmouth District Court.
The arrests were the result of a lengthy investigation by the Falmouth Police Department Drug Task Force, the Mashpee Police Department’s detective unit, the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Barnstable County District Attorney’s Office (Cape Cod Drug Task Force), the Barnstable Police Department’s drug unit, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office’s canine unit.
Mr. Wright was convicted in 2009 on two counts of distribution of a Class B drug and was sentenced to one year for each count in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, but those sentences were commuted.
