The Woods Hole Woman’s Club invites members and guests to its annual welcoming tea and open house from 3:30 to 5:30 PM on Tuesday, September 9, at Fisher House, Church of the Messiah, Church Street, Woods Hole.
This season marks the 100th birthday of the club. Special honors and recognition will be afforded those women who have been members of the Woods Hole Woman’s club for the past 25 to 50-plus years.
In celebration, a WHWC book bag with an original art design by Julia S. Child will be available for $20. Payment by cash or check (made out to Woods Hole Woman’s Club) is acceptable and must be made at the meeting to receive a bag. A limited number of bags will also be available for purchase at subsequent meetings.
Jeannette Fullerton, board president, will present an overview of the organization and a summary of the coming year’s monthly programs and activities.
Light refreshments will be served.
Since its founding in 1914, the Woods Hole Woman’s Club has worked to enhance the lives of those in Woods Hole and surrounding communities. Members raise money for college scholarships and support other community organizations through various club activities.
Most meetings are held at Fisher House at 11:30 AM on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May. There are a few evening meetings, as well. Woods Hole residency is not required for membership.
