A retired pediatrician was arrested this morning, June 24, in Mashpee.

A spokesman for the United States Attorney’s Office in Boston identified the pediatrician as Dr. Daniel J. O’Hern.

The spokesman did not disclose the federal charges being filed against Dr. O’Hern, but Boston television station WHDH is reporting that the charges are related to child pornography.

Mashpee Police Department, along with assistance from the Barnstable Police Department and the United States Postal Service, executed a search warrant early this morning at the Quashnet Valley Condominium complex on Lowell Road, where they arrested Dr. O’Hern.

The Town of Mashpee assessor’s database shows that Dr. O’Hern, 64, purchased the condominium unit in September 2012.

An article published in the Hudson Valley Parent Magazine reported in 2012 that he was the author of a book entitled “Common Sense Pediatrics for Parents,” and that he practiced in Middletown, New York, for 30 years.

Mark Trocino, director of marketing and public relations at Crystal Run Healthcare, where Dr. O’Hern practiced in Middletown, declined to comment on the arrest.
