Man Arrested For Assault With Intent To Murder Following Stabbing In Mashpee

Mashpee Police Chief Rodney C. Collins confirmed this afternoon that an arrest has been made in connection to this morning's stabbing at a home at 44 Shorewood Drive.

Aquinnah O. Lopes-Pocknett, 20, of Mashpee, was arrested without incident following a traffic stop. He has been charged with assault and intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and domestic assault and battery for allegedly stabbing David Figueroa twice during an argument.

Mr. Figueroa was transported to South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Mr. Lopes-Pocknett has had numerous encounters with Mashpee police. In February, he was arrested for for assault at a home on Shorewood Drive, although it is unclear whether it was at the same residence where today's stabbing occurred.
