A Marstons Mills man was arrested today on assault charges on a child younger than 14 after Mashpee police obtained an arrest warrant relating to an alleged incident in Mashpee earlier this week, according to Mashpee police.
Nathan B. Hess, of Gooseberry Lane in Marstons Mills, was arrested by Barnstable police at his residence, according to information provided by Mashpee police this afternoon.
The warrant was for one count of indecent assault and battery on a child younger than 14, subsequent offense. The warrant stemmed from an April 7 incident at a residence in Mashpee, according to police. It appears the suspect was acquainted with the victim, police said. The charge comes after a one week investigation into allegations of a possible sexual assault.
Mr. Hess was processed at the Barnstable Police Department and later transported to the Mashpee Police Department for processing as well. Bail was set at $20,000.
Mr. Hess was subsequently transported to the Barnstable County House of Corrections. He is scheduled to be arraigned on April 16, 2013 at Falmouth District Court.
