A suspect wanted in connection with an alleged rape and assault that occurred last night in Mashpee has been apprehended.
Mashpee Police Captain Scott W, Carline has confirmed that Terry Lee, 47, of Huron Avenue in Mashpee was taken into custody without incident this afternoon on Algonquin Avenue. Mr. Lee has been charged with rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery, witness intimidation, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and threatening to commit a crime.
According to police, the female victim was allegedly sexually assaulted and struck repeatedly with a blunt object last night at the Huron Avenue residence. She is currently being treated at Falmouth Hospital for significant injuries.
A search warrant executed at the address also resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm.
The investigation remains active and additional charges could be brought against Mr. Lee,who has a lengthy criminal background involving violence and assaults, Captain Carline said.
The Mashpee Police Department was assisted by members of the Upper Cape Cod Special Response Team and Barnstable Street Crimes Unit during today's surveillance initiative which resulted in Mr. Lee's arrest.
Mr. Lee is awaiting bail conditions and is being held at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility.
