Mashpee Police Seek Suspect In Attempted Murder

Mashpee police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in the attempted murder of a 26-year-old woman.

The suspect has been identified as Joshua Lafrange, 21, of Mashpee. When apprehended, he will be charged with attempted murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon—a shod foot.

Police were notified of the attack after the visibly injured woman went to Falmouth District Court seeking a restraining order.

The incident took place on or about April 1 on Tri-Town Circle, which is in the northwest section of town, bordering Falmouth, Sandwich, and Ashumet Pond.

“The victim was allegedly beaten and strangled until she was unconscious. After a joint investigation with the Falmouth Police Department, a warrant has been issued for Mr. Lafrange’s arrest,” Mashpee Police Captain Scott W. Carline said.

There have been four violent crimes in Mashpee in the past two weeks, including a shooting in New Seabury, the attempted murder of a pregnant woman at the Plaza Del Sol Motel, and the armed robbery of the Mobil gas station and convenience store at the Mashpee rotary.

Mr. Lafrange is described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Mr. Lafrange’s whereabouts is urged to call the Mashpee Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-539-1484.
